Thursday, March 12, 2020 - 3:00pm

“Governor John Bel Edwards has informed the Louisiana legislature that we have the first
presumptive case of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state of Louisiana (A Jefferson parish
resident, being treated in Orleans Parish). I am encouraging all residents, business and leisure
travelers to closely monitor this situation, and use the proper recommended measures to help
prevent the disease from spreading. The City of Monroe will continue working with health
officials and the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness to
inform and advise the public. We created an infographic to help share best practices the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging the public to follow. Please help us spread
the word by sharing this. You can find more helpful tips and informational flyers, which can be
easily downloaded and copied, on the CDC website at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-
ncov/about/index.html .” - Mayor Jamie Mayo
