The Department of Public Works Sanitation Division is committed to providing comprehensive and suitable service to the community regarding garbage and trash collection and disposable, drainage, beautification efforts.

Garbage Division (Garbage Collection)

The City of Monroe Garbage Division is responsible for garbage collection of all residential and commercial refuse in accordance with the city code (Chapter 16 - Garbage and Trash, Article I - In General, Article II - Municipal Refuse Collections and Chapter 21 - Litter) from each resident or business owner paying a monthly fee. The Monroe Garbage Division's focus is to provide excellent service in a timely and efficient manner while serving it's citizens.

Trash Division (Trash Pickup)

The City of Monroe Trash Division is responsible for trash pickup of all residential and commercial debris in accordance with the city code (Chapter 16 - Garbage and Trash, Article I - In General, Article II - Municipal Refuse Collections and Chapter 21 - Litter) from each resident or business owner paying a monthly fee. The Monroe Trash Division's focus is to provide excellent service in a timely and efficient manner while serving it's citizens.

Drainage Division

The Drainage Division is responsible for cleaning and maintaining all culverts, ditches, catch basins, curbs, gutters and alleyways to ensure the natural gravity flow of all storm water throughout the overall drainage system. The mowing of all ditches and alleyways to maintain proper drainage is also a responsibility of this division.

Demolition

In efforts to beautify the city, the City of Monroe Public Works Departments in conjunction with Code Enforcement (Planning and Urban Development) begain in year 2008 / 2009 the demolishing of condemned structures. For information regarding demolitions, contact the Department of Planning and Urban Development.

Keep Monroe Beautiful

The Beautification Division is responsible for maintaining all city owned lots in violation of City Code Chapter 24, Article II - Weed and Noxious Growths.
