Mission Statement

The Information Technology department (IT) is committed to serving the business operations of the City of Monroe by providing enterprise-wide integrated system solutions and high-quality end user service to ensure the efficient utilization of technology resources and investments.

Department Overview

Information Technology is responsible for delivering quality services in the areas of systems support, hardware and software, help desk support, network operations, purchasing equipment, and business systems analysis. The IT department provides customer service for all the city's user departments. There are approximately 900 network devices, and over 1,000 individual user accounts located at over 35 locations throughout the City. Our IT department is constantly upgrading computer software and hardware to keep up with the latest technology. The network is complicated and wide-spread, connecting over 35 different buildings across Monroe at speeds ranging from a minimum of a T1 to 30MB/s. The datacenter runs on the latest IBM servers, three X Series servers, and a VMware Center. The IT department helpdesk is manned by a competent staff and is augmented by local college students working in our intern program.
