Monday, January 13, 2020 - 12:30pm

Mayor Jamie Mayo Jamie Mayo is at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge, today, attending the inauguration ceremony for Governor John Bel Edwards and other state officials.

Mayor Mayo says, “Governor Edwards and his administration, along with the support of our NELA Legislators made 2019 a tremendous year for the City of Monroe – in terms of securing funding for local projects. Among our multiple wins - we extended the TIF District status for Tower-Armand Economic Development District, secured funding for drainage improvement projects, and we broke ground on highly anticipated projects for U.S. Hwy 165 South Lighting and the Kansas Lane Extension Project. In 2020, we look forward to working with Governor Edwards, DOTD, Louisiana Economic Development, our legislators and other partners on a list of projects and initiatives aimed at improvements and enhancements in areas such as: flood prevention, drainage, infrastructure improvements, and even early childhood education.”
