City of Monroe Welcomes New Hires

(Monroe, LA) Mayor Friday Ellis and the City of Monroe are excited to share some personnel changes.

Up first, we’d like to introduce Harry Brown. Brown is an Assistant City Attorney in the City Prosecutor’s Office and is a proud native of Monroe. He’s a graduate of Neville High School. After high school, Brown attended LSU where he received his Bachelor of Science. He then attended Southern University Law Center where he attained his Juris Doctorate.

Brown began his legal career in 2010 at the Capital Area Legal Services Corporation in Baton Rouge. He then took his talents to Doran & Cawthorne, P.L.L.C. where he grew his expertise. Brown also practiced Criminal Law during his time with the 15th JDC Public Defender’s Office in Lafayette.

Brown joined the City of Monroe in late 2022.

Next, we’d like to introduce Amy Keifenheim as the newest Director of the Monroe Civic Center.

Keifenheim, a native of Ouachita Parish, is replacing Dr. George Cannon, who announced his resignation at the end of January. Dr. Cannon served as Director of the Monroe Civic Center for the last four years.

Keifenheim most recently served as Sales Operations Lead for the Business Alliance Financial Services (BAFS). Her past professional experiences include Sales and Event Development for Discover Monroe-West Monroe and Project Management for CenturyLink.

Keifenheim is very involved in our local community. She serves as a board member for several organizations, including the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, The Cooley House. She’s also the Race Director for the Twin City Marathon.

Finally, we’d like to introduce Tarya Bell. Bell is the City of Monroe’s new Human Resource Director. Bell replaces Christine Winfield who retired in early January.

Bell is a Shreveport transplant, landing in Monroe for college; Bell is a graduate of the University of Louisiana Monroe. Bell previously served as Assistant Human Resources Director; she served in that role for over six years.
