Adoption Awareness Month event at Monroe City Hall

Thursday, October 25, 2018 - 10:00am

WHAT: Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council, in conjunction with the Dept. of Children & Family Services, invite the media and public to the DCFS National Adoption Awareness Month Event.

WHEN: 1 pm Wednesday, November 7, 2018

WHERE: Monroe City Hall (City Council Chamber) 400 Lea Joyner Expressway, Monroe, LA 71202

WHY: November is National Adoption Awareness Month. The primary focus of this effort is the adoption of children who are in foster care and to salute local foster/adoptive parents. Currently, there are more than 4000 children in the State of Louisiana who are in foster care. More than 600 of those children are in the Monroe region. Our local DCFS officials will recognize the Monroe Region’s Adoptive Parent(s) of the Year; and, they will display the Heart Gallery – showcasing some local youth who are available for adoption.
