Tropical Depression Cristobal: GOHSEP Suspends Final Week of Mobile Coronavirus Testing in Northeast Louisiana (Region 8)
Friday, June 5, 2020 - 9:00am
For the time being, today (Friday, June 5) will be our final day of free mobile coronavirus testing in Ouachita Parish and Northeast Louisiana. Officials with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness have informed us that week four of our scheduled mobile testing has been suspended until further notice due to the current forecast and impending impact of Tropical Depression Cristobal.
As many of you know, Monday, June 1st was the first day of Hurricane Season. GOHSEP and National Guard officials must, temporarily, shift their attention to Tropical Depression Cristobal - which is currently tracking to be headed directly for the for state of Louisiana. As a result, officials have suspended all community based and mobile testing sites throughout northeast Louisiana (Region 8), and the entire the state, that were scheduled for the week of June 7-13. These sites are those which were planned and supported by GOHSEP and the Louisiana National Guard.
