Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council join Public Works Director Tom Janway and Monroe Transit General Manager Marc Keenan to share the following announcement:
With the approval of Mayor Jamie Mayo and the support of the Monroe City Council, Monroe Transit received five 35-foot heavy duty buses to replace some aging buses in the fleet. These five new buses were manufactured by California based Gillig Corporation. They took eleven months to complete - at a cost of approximately $2.1 million dollars.
This enhancement completes Transit’s project #57 “Update Bus Fleet for MTS” on Mayor Mayo’s “60 for 60” projects list. A comprehensive list focusing on city-wide economic development, public safety, health, infrastructure, quality of life and education. As part of this initiative, Monroe Transit has replaced twelve buses over the past few years.
