“A small private plane, believed to occupied by only the pilot, had an emergency landing just
before 3 pm today at the Monroe Regional Airport. The plane was forced to do a “belly”
landing when its landing gear failed to work properly. There are no reported injuries. The
Monroe Regional Airport operations team, Monroe Fire Department, and personnel from Air
Flight worked to help remove the aircraft and debris from the runway. The runways were
temporarily closed during that time; but, is now reopened for all flights. Other aircraft were
able to take off and land on the airport’s secondary runway.” – Ron Phillips, Monroe Regional
