Walmart and Food Bank of NELA partner with City of Monroe to help feed Tornado Victims
Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council are pleased to make the following
announcement.
Personnel from the City of Monroe fire, police and other departments will be joined by Walmart
employees as they rally at the Monroe Public Center around 11:15 am today, Tuesday, April 14,
to load and distribute the food and drinks to tornado victims in various neighborhoods and
hotels. The local Monroe Walmart(s) and the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana have partnered
with the City of Monroe to provide free meals and beverages to tornado victims. Walmart is
donating 400 plated meals and water, and the Food Bank of NELA is donated several cases of
water and Gatorade.
Mayor Jamie Mayo says, “In times like this, we can count on the people and business
community of Monroe to come together and help those in need. We are thankful and proud to
work with Walmart, the Food Bank of NELA and so many others who are doing their part to
help.”
