Forsythe Chauvin Levee Repairs Underway
Friday, September 8, 2017 - 10:45am
The City of Monroe has started the drawdown of the water level of the retention pond which is known as Lake Deborah, in the River Oaks area. This is necessary to allow contractor access to repair several areas of the Forsythe Chauvin levee which was damaged during the historic March 2016 flood. The $318,188 project will consist of replacing the slide gate, repairing slides on the levee with material dug from the lake, and making the lake deeper in certain areas.
The contract allows 60 days to make the repairs. The levels will remain drawn down for most of that time. The project contractor is R.D. Owens Construction, Inc. The project Engineer is Denmon Engineering, Inc.
