Monroe Worker Incomes Growing at Fastest Pace in State

Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council are pleased to announce the following economic news. According to recent articles in the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report and USA Today, Monroe worker incomes are growing at the fastest pace in the state of Louisiana. 

The August 8th article states, “Workers in Monroe and Lake Charles are seeing their income climb, checking in at 14th and 22nd respectively, in USA Today’s top 25 ranking of U.S. metro areas with the quickest-growing per capita incomes.”

Mayor Jamie Mayo comments, “We are excited to know the things our government, business, economic development and education sectors, and other partners, are doing is successfully growing our local economy. It shows that our economic vitality is getting stronger. The road map we have in place is solid, and we are always looking for ways to expand job opportunities for all of our residents.” 

According to the USA Today report, “Monroe saw its per capita income climb for the third consecutive year, rising 3.4% to $40,614, crossing the $40,000 for the first time.”
