About the Exhibition

As technology advances, it is easy to believe that humans have grown very far from our natural state of existence. Many people fear the dominance of the digital world with consumer technology completely integrated into our everyday lives. The artists in this exhibition look past the blip of today’s magnetic screen and into the future: a future in which the boundaries between nature and technology become completely blurred. These 25 artists from around the USA, Norway, and Australia have imagined variations of this future through immersive art experiences using 3D printing, special effects animation, Virtual Reality, digital art, and traditional media. Also included is work by many Louisiana artists, with a large group of current and recent students of Louisiana Tech’s VISTA program in Pre-Medical Illustration and Scientific Visualization.

The exhibition will open on Thursday, Dec 12, with a free, public reception from 5-7pm. At 6pm, guests will hear from several speakers: Masur Museum Curator of Collections and Exhibitions, Lindsay Kearney, co-curator and multimedia artist Hannah Schilsky, and artists Breht O’Hearn and Shavana Smiley. Refreshments will be served.

*Please note, the Masur Museum will be closed Nov 26-Dec 11 for installation of this exhibition.
