Doug Harvey is a lifelong resident of northeast Louisiana who currently serves as the councilman for District 1 in Monroe. He believes in this area and how we can all contribute to it reaching its full potential.
He has served in leadership capacities within many manufacturing organizations in north Louisiana and is currently the plant manager for Drax’s Urania plant that produces wood pellets. He believes that manufacturing jobs are a key contributor to the economy of north Louisiana and is an advocate of our community college systems and developing our workforce to take advantage of those opportunities within our region. This has led him to serve on the advisory board for Louisiana Delta Community College’s manufacturing program which works with the college to ensure that graduates have the right skills for the local employers.
Mr. Harvey also believes in everyone’s responsibility to contribute to their communities. He is a graduate of Leadership Ouachita, a current participant in Leadership Louisiana, and is a recipient of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce’s Top 20 under 40 award. He is a volunteer for many community organizations in our community such as the Friends of Forsythe Park and the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank. As the race director for the Monroe Turkey Trot (Monroe’s Thanksgiving Day 5K), he has been able to partner with local charities to be a fundraiser for local charitable organizations. He currently serves on the board of the Northeast Louisiana Boys & Girls Club as well as Louisiana Catalyst, an incubator for small businesses, and is a member of the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.
He is married to wife Jodi and they have two children, Katelyn and Connor.
