City of Monroe’s Public Works Department to Kick Off The Big Haul
(Monroe, LA) The City of Monroe Public Works Department is facilitating an aggressive bulk trash collection service for our residents. This project is funded by a CDBG grant. For questions and concerns about trash or bulk pickup, please call the City of Monroe Sanitation Division at 318-329-2209.
- The BIG Haul Project is for Monroe residents who currently have trash service. Residents must have a GREEN City of Monroe garbage container to receive this complimentary service.
- The aggressive program is available for 6 weeks beginning Saturday, March 25, 2023 and each Saturday following in the month of April.
- Only during this program! Residents may now request to schedule bulk trash pickup or report trash pickup.
- Please see below for important guidelines on the volume and types of items that are accepted through The Big Haul Project.
You can only schedule bulk items for collection. Please ensure they align with the accepted items listed below. (Only one collection outside our normal pickup schedule.)
Items available for pickup:
- Any yard waste including vines, grass cuttings, branches, bagged leaves, and tree limbs.
- Furniture including mattresses, dressers, sofas, couches, chairs, etc.
Items NOT available for pickup: (these items are not disposable at our landfill)
- Televisions
- Stoves/Refrigerators
- Tires
- Washers/ Dryers/Hot water heaters
Do not place items for collection near a tree, telephone pole, signpost, inside of a fence or other obstruction such as drain boxes and ditches.
- Determine what type of bulk items you would like to have collected by the City of Monroe Public Works Department.
- Call 318-329-2209 (Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.), or email mary.williams@ci.monroe.la.us to request a pick-up. ASK SPECIFICALLY FOR THE BIG HAUL PROJECT.
- You will receive a call or email with the day of your pick-up.
- Once you receive your confirmation date from the City, put your disposable items on the parking strip or curb to be collected.
Note: Item(s) cannot be placed on the curb more than 48 hours in advance of your confirmed date. (Special accommodations can be provided on a case-by-case basis. Please discuss your needs with us in your request).
