The City of Monroe Teams Up With LifeShare to Host Blood Drive

Monday, September 26, 2022 - 9:00am

(Monroe, LA) The City of Monroe is teaming up with LifeShare Blood Center for a city-wide blood drive.

September is Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Sickle cell disease is a genetic condition that affects the body’s red blood cells. It occurs when a child receives two sickle cell genes—one from each parent. There is no widely used cure for sickle cell disease, but blood transfusions are proven to effectively treat the disease.

Furthermore, one of every seven people who enter the hospital will need blood.

That’s why Mayor Friday Ellis is asking for the community to come out and roll up their sleeves. The LifeShare Bus will be parked in front of Monroe City Hall Monday, September 26, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

The address is 400 Lea Joyner Expressway, Monroe, LA 71201.

We hope to see you there!
