Mayor Jamie Mayo announces the City of Monroe 2020 New Year’s focus will be a public
safety initiative called Operation Ceasefire. He and Monroe Police Department personnel will
hold a brief press conference 12 noon, Wednesday, January 1, 2020, to share a high-level
introductory overview of the initiative which is being used in multiple major cities.

The press conference will be held on the Police Department side of the Monroe Public Safety
Center, located at 1810 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

Note: Each year on New Year’s Day, Mayor Mayo shares a new focus area that he and city
officials will champion during the coming year.
