The City of Monroe will celebrate its 41st Annual Birthday Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from 11:30 am
until 1 pm Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in the W.L. “Jack” Howard Theater of the Monroe Civic Center
Complex. The entire community is invited to attend!

EVENT: City of Monroe 41st Annual Birthday Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

SPEAKER: Dr. Carolyn Hunt, Pastor, Walk in the Word Church (Monroe, LA)

THEME: “A Recommitment to Nonviolence”

DATE/TIME: 11:30 AM – 1 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2020

LOCATION: Monroe Civic Center – W.L. “Jack” Howard Theater, 401 Lea Joyner Expressway, Monroe, LA

NOTE: The event will feature an outstanding speech, inspirational singing, and recognition of local achievers,
leaders, and heroes who have honored Dr. King by their contributions to education, community service, public
service, justice and other humanitarian efforts, which help improve our local community!

For the fourteenth consecutive year, we will be making formal presentations to award winners in the following
categories:

James Sharp, Jr. Justice Award,
B.D. Robinson Unity Award,
Lillie "Granny" Goins Community Service Award,
Morris Henry Carroll Education Award,
W.L. "Jack" Howard Public Service Award,
Nashall "Shack" Harris Humanitarian Award, and
Our 2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Trailblazer Award

encourage your school, church, neighborhood or civic organizations to participate in this event. This will be an
outstanding educational and inspirational experience for all.
