City Employees Purchase, Assemble, & Deliver Over 200 Hygiene Kits for the Homeless
January City Employee Community Benevolent Act
For the third consecutive year, Mayor Jamie Mayo joins Public Works Director Tom Janway to
announce our City Employee Community Benevolent Act – Hygiene Kits for the Homeless,
which was led by our Monroe Water System.
Mayor Mayo says, “Thanks to the personal donation of more than $1,152 from City of Monroe
employees from within every department, we were able to partner with the United Way of
Northeast Louisiana to purchase supplies for 204 personal hygiene kits for the Homeless and
less fortunate within our community.”
City of Monroe employees will assemble the kits at 10:30 am, today, Tuesday, February
25, in the Fort Miro Room of the Monroe Convention Center. Later that day, city officials
and employees will deliver the kits at 2 pm to the Salvation Army (105 Hart Street) and at
2:20 pm to the Desiard Street Shelter (807 Desiard Street) for the homeless they serve.
The kits will include the following items:
- Individually wrapped toothbrush
- Toothpaste
- Travel size bars of soap
- Travel size shampoo
- Travel size conditioner
- Deodorant
- Facial Towel
- Pair of socks
- Sanitary napkins
- Sandwich crackers
- VolunteerUNITED card
