Volunteers Prepare and Deliver Hot Meals to Residents Impacted by Winter Storm Fern
January 29, 2026
(Monroe, LA) A volunteer-organized community meal effort is being hosted at the Monroe Civic Center to support residents impacted by Winter Storm Fern.
Volunteers are preparing hot meals on-site at the Civic Center and distributing them throughout the community to residents in dire need.
To support this effort, the City of Monroe, in coordination with the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP), is providing bottled water and Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) for volunteers to include in their outreach.
“Our community shines brightest in times of need. These volunteers are preparing and delivering meals to neighbors who need them most, and the City is proud to provide resources to help them succeed,” said Monroe Mayor Friday Ellis.
