City of Monroe Selects Contractor for Winter Storm Recovery
February 11, 2026
(MONROE, LA) – The City of Monroe has selected a contractor to support emergency recovery services following Winter Storm Fern. After carefully reviewing all submitted proposals, Southern Disaster Recovery was selected. Southern Disaster Recovery is equipped to meet residents’ needs and help ensure a swift, safe cleanup. The contractor has mobilized units in all five districts across the City to provide comprehensive, citywide coverage and accelerate debris removal efforts.
In just five days alone, City crews have removed 520 tons of debris from roads and rights-of-way. With the additional contractor, cleanup will accelerate, improving efficiency and helping Monroe return to normal operations more quickly.
These efforts are part of the City’s ongoing commitment to restore public rights-of-way, remove storm-generated debris and support community safety.
The City of Monroe issued Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for emergency debris removal, hauling, disposal and monitoring on Friday, January 30, which closed Monday, February 2.
