City of Monroe receives emergency donations for community distribution
January 31, 2026
(Monroe, LA) The City of Monroe will distribute coats and blankets today at the Abe Pierce III Convention Center following significant donations from corporate and nonprofit partners.
Through coordination with Comcast, a $25,000 donation was made to the Cajun Navy to provide several pallets of coats and blankets for residents across Ouachita Parish.
Distribution is scheduled to begin today at 3 PM at the Abe Pierce III Convention Center while supplies last.
“This is what community looks like,” said Mayor Friday Ellis. “When help was needed, Comcast, the Cajun Navy and our local first responders answered the call and made sure area families had what they needed. I also want to thank all of our community partners who have given in the past and continue to give. Your generosity truly makes a difference in the lives of our families, and that gives us hope for brighter days ahead,” said Ellis.
In support of ongoing relief efforts, Marsala Beverage is also donating pallets of water to Mercy Chefs to include in their continued distribution of meals. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned to City of Monroe socials for
updates.
