City of Monroe New Year’s Closures and Trash Schedule

Monroe, LA – Mayor Friday Ellis has announced that in observance of the New Year, City offices will close at noon on Wednesday, December 31 and will remain closed on Thursday, January 1 and Friday, January 2. City offices will reopen on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Trash pickup normally scheduled for Thursday, January 1 will be collected on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, December 31. Pickup normally scheduled for Friday, January 2 has been moved to Saturday, January 3.

The Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo will be closed to the public Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1. The zoo reopens Friday, January 2.

City Courts will also be closed to the public Wednesday, December 31, Thursday, January 1 and Friday, January 2.

Monroe Transit will be closed Thursday, January 1.
