City of Monroe Hosts Louisiana Municipal Association Convention

The City of Monroe and the Louisiana Municipal Association (LMA) invite local and regional media to cover the 89th Annual Louisiana Municipal Association Convention, taking place August 4 through 6, 2026, at the Monroe Civic Center, 401 Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway, Monroe, LA 71201.
This year’s convention marks a historic milestone as the LMA celebrates its 100th anniversary, bringing municipal leaders from across Louisiana together in Monroe for three days of education, collaboration, networking and professional development. Media are invited to cover key convention events, including:

Opening General Session – Tuesday, August 4, featuring welcoming remarks from Mayor Friday Ellis.

Leadership Luncheon – Wednesday, August 5, featuring Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser discussing the importance of local government and promoting Louisiana’s communities, citizens and regions.
*
President’s Luncheon and Gavel Ceremony – Thursday, August 6, at noon, featuring the ceremonial transfer of the LMA presidential gavel.

Education Workshops – Members of the media may cover workshop sessions as appropriate. Out of respect for presenters and attendees, media are asked to minimize disruptions while sessions are in progress.
Additional convention activities, including the Centennial Celebration and commemorative displays, will also be available for coverage.

Media planning to attend are encouraged to notify LMA in advance to help facilitate interview requests and coverage opportunities. The Louisiana Municipal Association will not issue media credentials for the event. Members of the media should use their organization’s press credentials.
