The City of Monroe is excited to announce the return of Downtown Monroe’s River Market!
City of Monroe Offices to Close in Observance of Good Friday
April 11, 2025
Mayor Friday Ellis announces City of Monroe offices and facilities will be closed Friday, April 18, 2025, in observance of Good Friday. Offices will reopen Monday, April 21, 2025.
Temporary Road Closure – Hall Street
April 11, 2025
Hall Street at North 5th Street will be closed to through traffic while Amethyst Construction installs a storm drain.
Temporary Road Closure – South 4th Street
April 1, 2025
The intersection at South 4th Street and Beauregard Street will be closed to through traffic as Hemphill Construction installs a new sewer manhole.
Temporary Lane Closure – Walnut St
March 25, 2025
The south bound lane of Walnut Street , encompassing the 200-block and the 300 block, will be closed to through traffic as work is being done for the Candy Company Remediation Project.

The Tax & Revenue and Utilities offices are relocating from 316 Breard Street to a new, more accessible location at 1401 Stubbs Avenue, the Monroe Business Hub.
