CITY OF MONROE                                                                                   

 

The following Ordinance was introduced by  Harvey                                    , who moved for its adoption, and was seconded by  Muhammad                         :

 

AN ORDINANCE RATIFYING THE 2025-2027 WORKING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MONROE AND THE MONROE FIRE FIGHTERS ASSOCIATION, INTERNATIONAL ASSOC. OF FIREFIGHTERS, LOCAL NO. 629, AFL-CIO.

 

            WHEREAS, the collective bargaining agreement between the City and the Monroe Fire Fighters Association, International Association of Fire Fighters, Local Union No. 629, AFL-CIO, has expired;

 

            WHEREAS, the parties have negotiated and reached an agreement on the terms of a new collective bargaining agreement, which is attached hereto and made part hereof;

 

WHEREAS, the collective bargaining agreement includes wage raises for certain employees that were budgeted and appropriated in the FY25-26 budget, which shall be retroactive to May 1, 2025; and

 

WHEREAS, in accordance with La. R.S. 44:67.1, a copy of the agreement has been posted on the on the City’s website and written notice has been provided according to law.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the collective bargaining agreement effective May 28, 2025, through May 31, 2027, by and between the City of Monroe and the Monroe Fire Fighters Association, International Association of Fire Fighters, Local Union No. 629, AFL-CIO is hereby ratified and adopted.

 

This Ordinance was introduced on May 27, 2025.

            Notice published on  May 30th         , 2025.

This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced, and published, was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES:            Harvey, Woods, McFarland & Muhammad

NAYS:            None.

ABSENT:      Ezernack

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on June 10, 2025.
