CITY OF MONROE
The following Ordinance was introduced by Ezernack who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Harvey :
AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN APPLICATION BY PETERS REALTY & MGMT TO REZONE CERTAIN PROPERTY (2.53 ACRES), AMENDING THE ZONING MAP FOR THE CITY OF MONROE, AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.
WHEREAS, Peters Realty & Mgmt. filed an application (MA 100-25) with the City of Monroe’s Planning and Zoning Division to rezone a ±2.53-acre tract of land located at 900 Martin L. King, Jr. Drive, Monroe, LA, from a B-3 (General Business/Commercial) District to an I-1 (Industrial Business Park) District;
WHEREAS, the rezoning includes Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20, SQ. 206, UNIT 17, BTW ADDN;
WHEREAS, the stated purpose of the application is to establish a heavy equipment sales, rental, and storage business, which is not permitted in the B-3 District;
WHEREAS, a copy of the application and proposed amendments to the Zoning Map are attached hereto and made part hereof; and
WHEREAS, the application was considered at a meeting of the Monroe Planning Commission on March 3, 2025, and the Monroe Planning Commission recommended approval of the application by a vote of 4-0-1;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council, in legal and regular session convened, that that application filed by Peters Realty & Mgmt.to rezone a ±2.53-acre tract of land located at 900 Martin L. King, Jr. Drive, Monroe, LA, from a B-3 (General Business/Commercial) District to an I-1 (Industrial Business Park) District is approved;
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Zoning Map of the City of Monroe and the boundaries thereof, which is described in Section 37-34 of the City of Monroe Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance and shows the Zoning Districts and Boundaries thereof, be and the same is hereby amended to rezone the ±2.53-acre tract to the I-1 (Industrial Business Park) District as shown on the map, which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and shall be integrated into the Zoning Map of the City of Monroe.
This Ordinance was introduced on March 25, 2025.
Notice Published on the 28th day of March and April 2nd & 4th , 2025.
This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published, was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:
AYES: Harvey, Ezernack, Woods & Muhammad
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: McFarland
And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on 8th day of April 2025.
