CITY OF MONROE
The following Ordinance was offered by Muhammad who moved for its adoption and was seconded by McFarland .
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A PERMIT APPLICATION FEE FOR WORK ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS TOWERS AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.
WHEREAS, Chapter 32.5 of the City of Monroe Code governs telecommunications, including the permitting process to build, replace, or modify communications towers, wireless facilities, and wireless communication sites;
WHEREAS, there is currently no fee for submitting a permit application to perform work on telecommunications towers;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to institute an application fee to cover the costs of processing these permit applications; and
WHEREAS, the City of Monroe desires to add Section 32.5-18 to the City of Monroe Code to establish a permit application fee for work on telecommunications towers.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the Code of Ordinances of Monroe, Louisiana, is hereby amended by adding a section, to be numbered 32.5-18, which said section reads as follows:
Sec. 32.5-18. Application Fees.
Unless otherwise provided by law, all applications for permits pursuant to this article shall be accompanied by a fee for actual, direct, and reasonable costs incurred by the city related to processing the application. An application fee of five hundred dollars ($500.00) shall be paid when the application for the permit is filed (non-refundable).
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this Ordinance shall become immediately effective upon final adoption of this Ordinance and the Mayor’s approval.
This Ordinance was introduced on March 11, 2025.
Notice published on the 14th day of March , 2025.
This Ordinance was submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole. The vote thereon being as follows:
AYES: Harvey, Ezernack, Woods, McFarland & Muhammad
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on March 25, 2025.
