FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE – NORTH 18TH ST. AT THE INTERSECTION OF WASHINGTON ST. – RAILROAD CROSSING ENHANCEMENT AND REPAIR

WHAT: North 18th St. at the intersection of Washington St.

WHEN:  Saturday, October 10, 2026, through Tuesday, October 13, 2026 (weather permitting)

The City of Monroe announces a temporary road closure on North 18th St. at the intersection of Washington St. at the railroad crossing. The closure is scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 7:00 AM and last until Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 7:00 AM, weather permitting, to allow Railroad Traffic Services to repair and enhance the crossing. Please be advised this will be a total closure of the railroad crossing and no one will be able to cross the tracks at North 18th St. at the intersection of Washington St. until work is completed. Road Closure signs will be stationed at the intersection, and drivers are asked to use caution when traveling near the work zone and follow all posted traffic signs. Barricades will be placed and maintained to ensure the safety of workers, motorists, and pedestrians. All dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances during the repair and enhancement. Please plan your routes accordingly and expect minor delays during morning and evening commutes.

We do ask while work is in progress that you drive with caution while in the work area. Be advised that it is illegal to drive around barricades**.
