City of Monroe to Break Ground on $14M Stormwater Pump Station

(Monroe, LA) – The City of Monroe will soon break ground on a $14 million stormwater pump station project aimed at reducing chronic flooding in Districts 4 and 5, which have faced drainage issues for more than 20 years.
The new facility will include three 22,500 GPM motors and a mile-long, 42-inch force main, designed to move rainfall runoff efficiently to the Ouachita River through the existing Plum Street Pump Station outfall structure.
This project marks a major step forward in improving drainage, protecting neighborhoods and strengthening Monroe’s infrastructure.
The groundbreaking will take place at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, March 11, at 2203 Georgia Street.
