Putting Riders First: Monroe Transit Introduces Cutting-Edge Air Quality Solutions
Monroe Transit is transforming the daily commute—making every ride not just convenient, but cleaner and healthier for the entire community. The City of Monroe has launched an innovative initiative to elevate passenger safety by equipping its entire bus fleet with advanced indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring and filtration systems. In collaboration with minority-owned supplier SIVAD Group LLC and EnviroKlenz, the city is bringing cutting-edge SMART air quality technology on board—technology that actively tracks and improves the air riders breathe in real time.
This bold move places the City of Monroe at the forefront of clean-air innovation in public transportation. The EnviroKlenz SMART Science™ system, trusted by millions worldwide, has been independently validated to remove up to 99.9% of common airborne contaminants—including viruses, bacteria, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particulates, and mold—helping create a noticeably fresher and safer environment for passengers and drivers alike.
The impact is already clear. Since installation, Monroe Transit has seen significant reductions in key pollutants, including particulate matter, VOCs, and carbon dioxide— surpassing expectations and setting a new standard for transit health and safety. “Our goal is to provide not only reliable transportation but also a safe and healthy environment for everyone who depends on public transit,” said Marc Keenan, the transit general manager.
Designed to operate quietly and automatically in the background, the system requires no manual intervention—delivering continuous, worry-free air quality improvements on every route, every day.
More than just an upgrade, this initiative reflects Monroe Transit’s deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the community—ensuring that every rider experiences not only reliable transportation, but a healthier, safer journey every day.
