The Monroe City Marshal’s Office is committed to serving the citizens of the City of Monroe and Ouachita Parish in a compassionate and impartial fashion.  We serve in the Civil and Criminal aspect of law enforcement and have the knowledge of the diverse needs of our community. We strive to take an active role in establishing and maintaining a professional image of law enforcement through honesty and integrity.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Monroe City Marshals Office is to serve the Monroe City Court and citizens of Ouachita Parish with the highest degree of professionalism in law enforcement, and to protect and enhance public safety.

Functions of the Marshal's Office

By law, the Monroe City Marshals Office is the executive branch of the Monroe City Court. The Marshal has the same arrest power as the Sheriff of Ouachita Parish and the Deputy Marshals have the same arrest power as the Marshal. The Marshal is responsible for not only the City of Monroe, but Wards 3 and 10, within the jurisdictions of Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. It is the responsibility of the Marshal to maintain the number of employees necessary to carry out the daily functions and requests of the Monroe City Court. The Marshals Office is responsible for the court orders and mandates handed down by the Monroe City Court on a daily basis.
