FIRE DEPARTMENT
Careers
Entry-level Firefighter and Police Officer exams are given throughout the state by the Office of State Examiner. The applicants will apply directly to our office, through the OSE website, during a 10-day posting period. The information on how to apply will be on the website under the “Competitive Applicants” tab. This link will take the applicant to the page with information on how to apply to take entry-level Firefighter and entry-level Police Office exams.
- The application is now an online form. Once completed, a copy of the submission is automatically sent back to the email address provided. This will be your receipt. This will be the only way to apply.
- If you are requesting Veteran’s Points or an American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) accommodation you will be required to submit your supporting documents separately from the application. You must email them to OSEregionaltesting@la.gov during the posting period, and before the application deadline. Failure to timely provide the documents will result in you not receiving any Veteran’s Points or an ADA accommodation. ***Veteran’s Points are up to 5 points and only applied to a passing score***
- We will not accept applications by mail.
- Applications will only be accepted during the 10-day posting period.
- Applications received before or after the 10-day posting period will be automatically rejected.
- Applicants will receive notification of acceptance 5 days prior to the test date via email provided on the application. This is also how each applicant will receive the test score.
- The OSE suggest that interested applicants check the OSE website weekly for new exam dates coming in the future.
- Additional information concerning this process is available on our website.
- Your score is good for 18 months from the date the State Examiner certifies your test score. Once you apply, take, and pass the exam you will be eligible to be hired. You should contact the jurisdiction you wish to be employed with and fill out their application for employment.
Additional information concerning this process is available on the OSE website. If you have any questions, please contact us at 318-329-2474, Monday-Friday from 7:30 am – 4:30 pm.
