Councilman Verbon R. Muhammad, Sr.
Bro Verbon Muhammad, Sr. was born, raised and educated in District 5. He is an alumnus of Wossman High School and holds a B.S. degree in Agricultural Economics from Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA. He has an extensive background in the transportation industry with over 33 years of service. Verbon retired after 30 years as an Operations Supervisor with Greyhound Bus Lines, Inc and 5 years as a Transportation Coordinator with the Morehouse Parish School Board. He has resided in various cities including Baton Rouge, LA, Louisville, KY, Greenville, MS, Houston, TX, Jacksonville and Orlando, FL. Verbon currently is employed as an Insurance Sales Manager with Kemper Life.
Verbon is a former member of the Monroe City School Board where he served on several committees including, transportation, finance, policy, curriculum and served as board president during his tenure. He is active in his community serving as the 1st Vice President of the NAACP-Monroe/Ouachita branch, active member of the Southern University Monroe Alumni Federation, past president of the Wossman Wildcats Alumni Association (WWAA), past member of YMCA of Northeast Louisiana and past member of the Emily P Robinson Advisory Committee. Verbon is active member of Muhammad Mosque No. 99 where he serves as Student Minister. He also is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi-Rayville Alumni.
Verbon is married to Mary Ann Muhammad and they have 2 children, Dijon, Verbon Jr and 2 grandchildren, Oliver and Iris
