CITY OF MONROE

            The following Ordinance was offered by Mrs.  Ezernack                  who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.   Woods                                   :

 

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING AND AMENDING THE ZONING MAP FOR THE CITY OF MONROE, LOUISIANA

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Monroe has held its Public Hearing with respect to the following proposed Zoning Map Amendment, to-wit:

An amendment to the Zoning Map to a zone a ±.34 acre tract of land, more or less presently located in Ouachita Parish and more particularly described as follows: 

Lots 17 & 18, Square 3, Sherrouse Park Addition, Unit 1 (otherwise known as 206 Darbonne Street)

 

            APPLICANT: (MA 109-19, Markus Bosley)

WHEREAS, the City Council has further considered the report of the Monroe Planning Commission recommending approval, on a 6-0-1 vote. The property is presently zoned  R-1, Single Family Residential. The applicant would like to build a duplex on this property, but the zoning classification does not allow for this type of use. The property was recently resubdivided and the lots have been reoriented to face DArbonne Street. The applicant would like to rezone the property to R-4, High Density Multi-Family Residential to be able to construct the duplex on this property. The property to the north is presently zoned R-4, High Density Multi-Family Residential, therefore this will be an extension of an existing R-4, High Density Multi-Family Zoning district. The recommendation is that the property be rezoned as B-4, Heavy Commercial District as it is an appropriate zoning classification for the proposed use.

NOW, THEREFORE:

 

            BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana in legal session convened that the Zoning Map of the City of Monroe be amended to zone a ±.34 acre tract of land, more or less as described above, and the boundaries thereof which map is described in Section 37-72 (formerly Section 27-30 (2)) of the City of Monroe Code and which map shown the Zoning Districts and Boundaries thereof, be and the same are hereby amended to R-4, High Density Multi-Family Residential District as shown on the map which is attached hereto and made a part thereof and which is adopted as the new Zoning Map of the City of Monroe.

            This ordinance was INTRODUCED on the 24th day of September 2019.

NOTICE PUBLISHED on the  27th & 30th of September and October 2nd , 2019.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published was then submitted to a final vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark

NAYS:            None.

ABSENT:       None.

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  8th       day of  October           , 2019.
