CITY OF MONROE

The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr.  Wilson                 who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.  Woods                   :

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MONROE TO ACQUIRE A CERTAIN PARCEL OF REAL PROPERTY BEARING MUNICIPAL ADDRESS 118 SOUTH 19TH ST., FROM THE ESTATE OF JAMES M. BRASHER, SITUATED IN OUACHITA PARISH FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXTENDING THE MAGNOLIA CEMETERY, AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO

WHEREAS, the City of Monroe, owner of the Magnolia Cemetery, needs additional property adjacent to the Magnolia Cemetery for future expansion, and

WHEREAS, the property described hereinafter is adjacent to the cemetery and will help extend its boundaries, and

WHEREAS, the property has been formally appraised by Appraisals Plus, LLC, dated August 29, 2018, and the appraised value is $1,500.00.  A portion of that appraisal is attached hereto and made a part hereof, and

            WHEREAS, the owners of the property have agreed to sell the property to the City of Monroe for the appraised value of $1,500.00.

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana in legal session convened, that James E. Mayo, Mayor, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered for and on behalf of the City of Monroe to acquire the following described property for the sum of $1,500.00, to-wit:

Lot 9 Arents Resub, Lots 17 & 18, Stubbs Young Bayou Addition, Ouachita Parish, Monroe, LA

118 S. 19th St., Monroe, LA 71201

            IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED, that this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage.

            This Ordinance was INTRODUCED on the  25th    day of September 2018.

NOTICE PUBLISHED on the  28th      day of  September      , 2018.

This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published, was then submitted to a final vote as a whole and the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark

NAYS:           None.

ABSENT:      None.

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  9th      day of  October           , 2018.
