Councilwoman Kema Dawson

Councilwoman Kema Dawson is the Chair of the Monroe City Council and the former Executive Director of the Ouachita Multi-Purpose Community Action Program (OMCAP) in Monroe, LA. She graduated from Neville High School in Monroe, LA in 1997 and received a vocal music scholarship and studied vocal music performance and Computer Information Systems at Northeast Louisiana University which was later changed to the University of Louisiana at Monroe where she was on the 1st ULM Homecoming Court in 1999. She received her first bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from ULM in 2002 with a minor in Vocal Music Education. She relocated to Plano, Texas in 2003 and later studied Management and Management Information Systems receiving a dual bachelor’s degree from Dallas Baptist University in 2012. Kema received a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Ashford University on May 5, 2019 and is currently enrolled in Andersonville Theological Seminary with her father and they plan to receive their doctoral degree in Biblical Exposition TOGETHER. Kema is a member of the Monroe Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated,  a board member of The Ouachita Workforce Development Board 81,  The Arts With Passion,  and played the role of KENDRA in the Northeast Delta Human Services Authority' production "Addict" with Candy Studio in May 2019 and will also be featured in their upcoming sequel Alky and Users.  She received the Top 20 Under 40 Young Professionals in NELA Award in 2019.  At FMBC, she is active with the Music Ministry, Youth Leaders Ministry and Media Ministry. Her motto is The Golden Rule,  "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you,  because what goes around,  comes around."

Councilwoman Dawson is the daughter of Pastor King Solomon Dawson and First Servant Emma Dawson. She is married to LeBrone E. Robinson and they have one son, King Solomon Dawson, II (Deuce), named after her father.
