EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

 

 

STATE OF LOUISIANA

 

CITY OF MONROE                                                                                                           NO.  12,073            

 

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr.  Harvey                            who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Ms.  Woods                                   :

 

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE REPAIR OF THE APPLE DENTAL LIFT STATION AN EMERGENCY AND NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

 

            WHEREAS on July 13, 2021, there was a power failure which caused the Apple Dental Lift Station to lose power;

 

WHEREAS, when power was restored, all three (3) Variable Frequency Drives at the Apple Dental Lift Station were inoperable due to over current faults;

 

            WHEREAS, a bypass pump has been rented and installed by Ouachita Electric to reduce the Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) which began shortly after the drives became inoperable;

 

            WHEREAS the Apple Dental Lift Station serves River Oaks, Deborah Drive, Timberlane and all areas along Hwy 165 north of Apple Dental; and

 

            WHEREAS funds for this repair are available through the Sewer Department’s Repairs and Maintenance account

 

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the condition of the Apple Dental Life Station is hereby declared an emergency.

 

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such emergency repairs as are necessary to repair the Apple Dental Lift Station are hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

 

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

 

            AYES:            Harvey, Ezernack, Woods & Marshall

 

            NAYS:            None.

 

            ABSENT:      Dawson

 

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  27th     day of July 2021.
