EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  11,991               

 

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Ezernack                        who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr.  Harvey                :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE REPAIR OF PRIMARY CLARIFIER #2 AT THE WPCC AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, Primary Clarifier #2 at the WPCC has recently become inoperable due to mechanical failure and immediate repair is necessary; and

            WHEREAS, the repair of Primary Clarifier #2 is an emergency as the basin provides approximately 1/3 of the primary treatment for the WPCC. The repairs must begin immediately to avoid sanitary sewer overflows and possible damage to downstream processes; and

            WHEREAS, the repairs are estimated to be $62,400.00 and funds are available through the WPCC’s Repairs and Maintenance account which has a balance of $278,658.81.

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of Primary Clarifier #2 at the WPCC is hereby declared an emergency.

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such an emergency repair of the Primary Clarifier #2 is necessary to the WPCC and is hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

 

            AYES:            Harvey, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark-on conf. call

            NAYS:            None.

            ABSENT:       None.

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  28th   day of  April  , 2020.
