EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE

NO.  11,980                

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Ezernack                    who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr.  Wilson                        :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE FAILURE OF THE BAR SCREEN AT THE TEXAS AVENUE PUMP STATION WHICH PROVIDES SEWER SERVICE TO AREAS OF NORTH MONROE AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND OR REPLACEMENT AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, the bar screen at the Texas Avenue Pump Station was severely damaged during the rain event on February 11th and 12th and is in need of emergency repair and or replacement; and

            WHEREAS, the damage to the bar screen at the Texas Avenue Pump Station has caused an overall reduction in flow though the Texas Avenue station and must stay operational to provide sewer service to areas of North Monroe including the Garden District, all areas around 18th St., Pargoud Blvd., Oliver Rd., Pine St., Breard St., DeSiard St., 24th St., and the College area; and

             WHEREAS, funds will come from the Sewer Department’s Repairs and Maintenance account; and

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of the bar screen at the Texas Avenue Pump Station be and is hereby declared an emergency and in need of immediate repair and or replacement.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

            AYES:            Ezernack, Harvey, Woods & Wilson

            NAYS:            None.

            ABSENT:       Clark

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  25th    day of February 2020.
