EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  11,910               

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr.  Clark               who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr.  Wilson               :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CONDITION OF PUMP NO. 1 AT THE OREGON TRAIL STORM WATER PUMP STATION AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, the electric motor on pump No. 1 at the Oregon Trail Storm Water Pump Station failed and immediate repair is necessary; and

WHEREAS, the repair of pump No.1 is an emergency as the level of the Ouachita River, Youngs Bayou and Bayou Lafourche are currently very high; and 

            WHEREAS, the Oregon Trail storm water pump station provides flood control to all of the East Parkview area; and 

            WHEREAS, funds are available through the Storm Water Repairs and Maintenance account.

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of the pump at the Oregon Trail Storm Water Pump Station is hereby declared an emergency.

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such an emergency repair of the pump is necessary to the Oregon Trail Storm Water Pump Station and is hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES:       Echols, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark

NAYS:       None.

ABSENT:  None.

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  22nd      day of January      , 2019.
