EMERGENCY ORDINANCE
STATE OF LOUISIANA
CITY OF MONROE NO. 11,851
The following Ordinance was introduced by Ms. Woods who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mrs. Ezernack :
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CONDITION OF THE UV DISINFECTION SYSTEM LOCATED AT 770 RICHWOOD RD. #2, MONROE, LA, AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.
WHEREAS, due to the recent severe weather there has been serious failure of the UV Disinfection System that services all of Monroe and is located at 770 Richwood Road #2, resulting in the need of emergency repair work; and
WHEREAS, the UV Disinfection System is the primary disinfectant for the water being discharged into the river making this an emergency and in need of repair; and
WHEREAS, parts and labor have been estimated to cost $96,439.95 and funds are available through the Water Pollution Control Repairs and Maintenance account.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of UV Disinfection System is hereby declared an emergency.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such emergency repairs as are necessary to repair UV Disinfection System are hereby authorized and approved; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, that the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.
This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:
AYES: Echols, Ezernack, Woods, Wilson & Clark
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the 24th day of April 2018.
