Mission Statement The Department of Public Works is responsible for a wide variety of activities including: maintenance of streets and drainage facilities, garbage and trash collection, operation of a central maintenance facility for all city vehicles and equipment, water treatment, and distribution, sewage collection and treatment, operation of the municipal transit system, and operation of the municipal airport.
